Prescription Pre-Payment Certificates (PPCs)
If you are not exempt from prescription charges and expect to need 4+ items in 3 months or 15+ items in a year, a PPC could save you money.
- Valid only for your own NHS prescriptions
- You can choose the start date (up to one month before or after the application)
- 12-month PPCs can be paid in full or by 10 monthly direct debits
- You can apply online, by phone (0845 850 0030), or through the NHS Health Costs webpage
If your PPC expires, you must pay the prescription charge unless you obtain an FP57 receipt at the time of payment. This receipt allows you to claim a refund within 3 months.
Please note:
The prescription charge is a government-set tax, not a pharmacy fee. If a patient falsely claims exemption or fails to pay, they may receive a £100 fine plus the prescription charge. Coleshill Pharmacy & Travel Clinic is not responsible for these fines.
