Electronic Prescription Service (EPS)
A simpler way to receive your medicines
The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is an NHS service that allows your GP to send your prescription directly to your chosen pharmacy — including Coleshill Pharmacy & Travel Clinic — without the need for a paper prescription.
What Does This Mean for You?
- No need to visit your GP practice to collect a paper prescription.
- Your prescription is sent electronically to your chosen pharmacy, saving you time and effort.
- You can choose a pharmacy that’s most convenient — near home, work, or where you shop.
- Your medicines may be ready sooner, meaning shorter waiting times when you arrive.
How to Use EPS
To use EPS, you simply need to nominate where your prescriptions should be sent. You can choose:
- A pharmacy (such as Coleshill Pharmacy & Travel Clinic)
- A dispensing appliance contractor
- Your dispensing GP practice (if eligible)
Changing Your Nomination
You can change or cancel your nomination at any time. Just speak to:
- Any pharmacy offering EPS (including us), or
- Your GP practice
Make changes before your next prescription is issued to ensure it goes to the right place.
Is EPS Secure?
Yes. EPS is reliable, secure, and confidential. Your electronic prescription is seen only by the same authorised staff who would normally handle your paper prescription.
Benefits of Using EPS
- No more collecting paper prescriptions from your GP
- Reduced risk of lost prescriptions
- Flexibility to choose any connected pharmacy
- Often shorter waiting times, as prescriptions can be prepared in advance
- If an item is out of stock, the pharmacy can order it before you arrive
