Key Benefits
Metabolism & Weight Management Support
Glucose Regulation
Alpha-Lipoic Acid (ALA) helps improve insulin sensitivity, allowing your body to use glucose more efficiently for energy rather than storing it as fat.
Craving Control
By supporting stable blood sugar levels, ALA may help reduce sugar cravings, energy crashes, and fluctuations throughout the day.
Cellular Energy Production
ALA activates the mitochondria — the energy centres of your cells — helping your body produce and burn energy more effectively.
Nerve Health & Antioxidant Protection
Nerve Support & Repair
High-dose ALA has been extensively studied for its role in supporting healthy nerve function and reducing discomfort, particularly in the hands and feet.
A “Universal” Antioxidant
Unlike many antioxidants, ALA is both water- and fat-soluble, enabling it to protect cells throughout the entire body, including the brain and liver.
Antioxidant Regeneration
ALA helps recycle and extend the activity of other key antioxidants such as Vitamin C and Glutathione, enhancing overall cellular protection.
How It Works (The Science)
Alpha-Lipoic Acid is naturally produced within the mitochondria; however, production declines with age, stress, and certain health conditions. While oral supplements are available, absorption through the digestive system is limited, with bioavailability typically around 30–40%.
Our IV infusion delivers a high-strength 600 mg dose of ALA directly into the bloodstream, bypassing digestion entirely. This ensures maximum absorption and rapid availability for cellular repair, antioxidant defence, and energy production.
The Experience: What to Expect at Coleshill Pharmacy
At Coleshill Pharmacy, we combine clinical expertise with a calm, professional environment to ensure your treatment is both safe and comfortable.
Consultation
Your appointment begins with a brief consultation and health assessment with a trained clinician to review your medical history and confirm suitability for treatment.
Comfort & Preparation
You will be seated comfortably in our clinic while the clinician cleanses the area and gently inserts a sterile micro-cannula.
The Infusion
The IV drip is administered over 30–60 minutes, depending on the formulation. During this time, you may relax, read, use your phone, or simply rest.
Aftercare
Once the infusion is complete, the cannula is removed and a sterile dressing applied. Most patients can return to normal activities immediately. We recommend staying well hydrated for the remainder of the day to support nutrient circulation.
Pre-Treatment Blood Tests
To ensure safety and optimal outcomes, we recommend completing the following blood tests prior to treatment:
- Full Blood Count (FBC)
- ESR
- Liver Function
- Kidney Function
- G6PD Enzyme Test
Our Basic Health Screen offers a convenient and cost-effective way to complete most of these tests. ESR and G6PD testing can be added separately if required.
